VAREKAI in Europe: It's Official= Belgium is the 1st stop

Postby Christophe on Sat 20 Jan 2007 4:11am

The European premiere of Varekai starts in ..... Antwerp ( yeah, it's offical). The European tour manager of Cirque du Soleil confirmed this news. It's the first time that Belgium will have the European premiere of a Cirque du Soleil show!!! Cirque du Soleil sent a letter to the town council of Antwerp with the request if Antwerp wanted to have the European premiere of Varekai. The burgomaster of Antwerp confirmed this news in a belgian newspaper today.Only a few practical issues to deal with, before Cirque du Soleil will confirm this news officially.

What a year: in March the European premiere of Cavalia in Brussels and at the end of October Varekai in Antwerp!!!!

I dunno if anyone is leaving before Europe, but I have suspicion of a few people leaving afterwards.
I got Craig on a good night(s) (that's his problem, so inconsistent), but I adore Isa - can't wait to catch them again in April/May :D

Raphael Sanchez (Bandleader) will left because he must be on The Lion King in Paris which begins the next autumn.

The current tour plan for 2008 does NOT include Spain for Varekai. But of course, nothing is really certain, as tour plans do change. So you never know.

3Libras is correct...Spain has not been added to the official tour plan as of yet. But that piece of paper changes a lot sometimes. So, it's not impossible. It's just not what's listed currently.

I said 2008 or 2009 and maybe Varekai will be a three year tour and not come untill 2010. But they will be in spain. CDS never skips spain. They have been to spain since The 1998 Alegria Tour. They never miss spain. And for Corteo im just guessing but if they go to Europe after NA you will see them around 2011. So Yah. Heres that alegria 1998 tour route

1997-1998: European Tour

* Amsterdam: 3/6/97 -
* Munich: 5/15/97 -
* Berlin: 7/11/97 -
* Vienna: 9/12/97 -
* Düsseldorf: 11/7/97 -
* London: 1/7/98 -
* Madrid: 2/19/98 -
* Barcelona: 4/2/98 - 5/10/98
* Hamburg: 5/22/98 - 7/5/98
* Antwerp: 7/22/98 - 8/23/98
* Zürich: 9/17/98 -
* Frankfurt: 11/12/98 -
* London: 1/5/99 - 1/24/99

I was hoping that Alegria would be back in Switzerland but just found out they will be leaving to South America after Gijon.

Wondering if Varekai will be coming to Zurich in 2008 instead ?? Or even Geneva ??

The provisional schedule for 2008 doesn't include Switzerland. For that year, Dusseldorf or Vienna would be your closest locations. No information is available for '09 yet however, so maybe then.

SORRY !!!

Postby Solstrom on Wed 31 Jan 2007 12:41pm

:oops: :oops: :oops: Ooops, I'm so sorry and so sorry to be french and made lot of mistakes when I'm writting....(Nobody can't imagine when I'm talking !!) and I'm sorry again to can't be here earlier !
So, my BIG mistake was the rumour from one of my friend (well, actually, he's not).
The real things are these : Raphael Sanchez was just annonced as a favorite when the project of Lion King in Paris was planned in 2005/2006.
Unfortunately, the Mogador Theater was so small and couldn't contain all the scenic system from this show, so, this project was reported for the next autumn, they produced "Cabaret" at Folies Bergère while a new stage is building in Mogador.
I supposed that Raphael Sanchez will be favorite again one year later and because I made confidence in my friend.

We must know that even the 2005/2006 casting for the singers/dancers which was almost complete at this time has been cancelled for a new opening call the last october.
I've (personally !!) read in newspaper that they are searching musicians for a next casting.
So, I'm so sorry if my beliefs and overall my naivety and my posts, could seem more official than it were not actually, and if they caused disorder to you, to the team of Varekai or reached the reputation of Raphael Sanchez, it were absolutely not my intention and I request everyone to agree to excuse me. :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops:

Now I know it 100 % for shore: Varekai will have it's European premiere in Antwerp ( Belgium). The " Gedempte Zuiderdokken " ( the location where the big top is always located) has already been hired by Cirque du Soleil for 3 months ( Oktober, November and December 2007). Moreover, I sent an e-mail to the town hall of Antwerp and they also confirmed that Cirque du Soleil is coming to Antwerp at the end of October 2007!

Here's a picture of the location where the big top is always located, right in the centre of the town. I love this location.

DANK U, cirque du soleil , Merci !

It will be a pleasure to go again to Antwerp, for Circus but also for the Plantin House and the .... belgian beer.

I love my "little" CircqueCon" 2006-2007 European tour (Alegria x 4 or more, Dralionx 2, Varekai x.... !)

Just need now Quidam and Corteo for a European Tour and a trip to Vegas and Florida, for circus show, not for the US beer !

Les fans de Paris seront au rendez-vous !

Hot/Warm sake is fine with a sushi dinner. It's not much of a party drink as you can't make a South Beach Cosmo with it.
